You Decide What TYPO3 Builds Next: Community Ideas, Explained and Activated
TYPO3 is not only shaped by core teams and roadmaps. A significant part of its evolution comes directly from the community through the Community Ideas process, funded by the TYPO3 Association budget.
In this session, we will walk through how the Community Ideas process works in practice: from submitting ideas to voting, budgeting, and finally implementation. The focus is on what this means for TYPO3 Association members: how you can influence which features get built, which problems get solved, and where community resources are invested.
Based on our experience from multiple rounds, we will also share practical insights into what makes an idea successful: from framing and scope to common pitfalls that reduce the chances of being selected. The goal is to help participants not only take part, but also submit ideas that have a realistic chance of being funded.
The timing is intentional. Voting for the next round will have started just one day before TYPO3 Developer Days.
We will use this opportunity to bring additional visibility and momentum to the current ideas. During the Developer Days, TYPO3 Association members can participate in an on-site voting activity: each member receives a token and can support their preferred idea. These tokens will not replace the official online voting, but complement it by creating visible buzz around selected ideas.
At the end of the event, the most supported ideas will receive an additional boost in the official voting:
- Top idea: +10% votes
- Second place: +5% votes
- Third place: +2.5% votes
The session serves as the starting point for this activity and explains how everyone can take part — both on-site and online.
